FYI - I have picked up some new headworn mics for our drama team. They are Countyman E6's with a capsule optimized for vocal performance. They provide excellent vocal range and clarity - plus they look cool. Got them from FullCompass for around $325 each. If you have the cash then you should demo a unit to see if it'll work for your church.
